Take FiveA medley of tips, approaches, web links, interactive activities and resources for teaching English at Key Stages 3, 4 & 5Whether you’re looking for a top tip (or 5!), bit of advice, list of indispensable websites or an engaging and innovative resource, you’ll find it in Take Five. With chapters on core areas of the English curriculum, including active approaches to Shakespeare, going multi-modal and differentiation (both for G&T & SEN students), there’s plenty here to inspire, refresh and encourage good practice. If you’re in need of a nifty idea for classroom-based Drama, a practical insight into media production or a pithy plenary, there are units on these areas (and many others!) too. Getting on with writing, Less good writing and Leading ReadingTeachit has teamed up one of our key contributors, Richard Durant, and Devon Learning & Development Partnership, to publish a brand new literacy series. Literacy is high on the Ofsted and curriculum agenda, and Leading Reading offers advice on how to embed and promote good reading skills across the curriculum. The Ofsted inspection framework and standards for teachers require a renewed focus on literacy and differentiation. Getting on with writing provides exactly this, with engaging, differentiated activities aimed at moving KS3 students from Level 2 to 5 in writing. Focused on improving the quality of writing across the secondary curriculum, Less good writing offers a wealth of practical advice, ideas and short-cuts to literacy co-ordinators, senior leaders and teachers, and will help students to realise that less (writing) is sometimes more! |
