Dating Heaney and Clarke
A fun brain teaser. Using the format of a speed dating event, pupils try to identify the anthology poems. Includes notes and dating cards for all the key Heaney, Clarke and pre-1914 poems, plus spares for any other poems you may have studied.
Focusing on 'Baby-sitting' and 'Catrin', this lesson asks students to find links between the poems and begin to structure a comparison essay. (Within it, this lesson refers to another Teachit resource entitled 'Baby-sitting' by Gillian Clarke.)
