| Please can anyone help: I am looking for a copy of Channel 4's 2003 series 'The Story of the Novel' to use in the classroom with my A-Level students, and was wondering if anyone would be able to provide a copy or help with information regarding acquisition of this useful series. Thanks very much. Rosemary Rogan | |

| Have you tried The Video Library at Richmond college? There is a link to it on this site. |

| Yes, you're right. It's running this week starting today (so missed the first one as it's at 11.10am). This link should take you to a useful page of more information about the programme: http://www.channel4.com/culture/microsites/N/novel/. I'm definitely going to be recording it now, so thanks for bringing it to my attention! Mary |

Hi. Glad to see someone else enjoyed that series. (If it's the same one I'm thinking of) It seems however that the series is not available yet. I've tried Channel 4's website and could not find anything. I had the same problem with Melvin Bragg's series on Shakespeare and Language, nothing available. Indeed it seems to take years for any 'high brow' television to make it to the sales counter. For example, Alexei Sayle's legendary Stuff series has only recently been released on DVD, I don't even think it was available on video. Furthermore, a wonderful 1979 version of Dracula starring Lawrence Olivier and Frank Langella still continues to be unavailable. This is the age of the middle ground, no avant garde or high brow welcome. The sruggle goes on. |
