  2011 English results - Jayne 29/08/2011

We've had a better year than normal and wondered how the rest of the world got on??!

Is 35% A*-C inc Eng and MAths REALLY the government's standard? It cant be that low surely??

We had a great year, too with Y11 AQA Lang and Lit but our Y10 cohort, with an 85% A*-C FFT D target, entered 2 new Lit modules for OCR and we failed to attain 50% on either paper. So, our jubilant mood was somewhat dampened by the disappointing performance / marking * (delete as appropriate)

Maybe you've never worked in an inner city school, Jayne?  We had a good year but sadly Maths didn't do as well, which put us at about 44%, although English was 67%.  This has taken LOTS of hard work and intervention.  5 years ago (before I joined the school) the E&M was 27% - so we were one of those National Challenge, inner city schools!

Thanks Joanne - I stand corrected. 'Tis true i have never worked in an inner city school, in fact mostly leafy parts of the Midlands. But bloomin' well done on your 67% given what you said your place was like before you joined. I hope your Head bought you a drink!

To be fair it was a team effort.  And I didn't get that drink, seeing as I've jumped ship to a big promotion at a new school starting next week!! ;D

Yes- we have a similar picture with our AQA LIt and language results in Year 10- anyone else experience the same or similar?
