With this resource students work in groups to explore the key themes of 1984 by George Orwell and think about how they're interconnected. The themes covered are: 

  • freedom

  • truth
  • equality
  • hatred
  • cruelty
  • violence
  • war
  • power
  • language
  • the past
  • personal feelings. 

In groups, students should make notes on the themes they have been given and answer the accompanying questions. They are then required to share their findings with the rest of the class.
