How did it get to be Thursday already? The ditty-doodle above needs a better ending. How about: Surprise: - Those circles Now are faces!
or
Surprise! - now see Those circles Now make faces At me / you and me?
or
A surprise Now see How those Os make faces At you and me!
Too much choice!

My doodles, when deciphered, say something like: double dots / for some noses / two more (crossed out) / do it twice / for some eyes / surprise! / now don't spoil / it with / detail.... It trails off. Perhaps this would make a little rap for younger readers/listeners?

Sitting in a cafe with a bit of time on my hands - always a good moment to think about writing. I'm surprised there aren't more poems about cafes and bars. Doodling on the napkin. It's soft but not too soft - the ball-pen makes good clear marks on it. Seeing faces, I draw circles, vals, nothings, zeros. I notice that on the bill it doesn't say drinks and food as separate items, but 'wet sales' and 'dry sales'. It makes me want to create a seashore scene where we have wet seals and dry seals, or maybe fishermen with wet sails and dry sails. But this is getting me nowhere. I begin to doodle words instead of lines and designs. 'Are they Os or faces? / need traces of smiles / or grimaces' I doodle, thinking of what you need to do to turn an empty circle into a face like a smiley.
