This useful resource is a collection of cards with a list of questions in each category that can be used for rapid-fire questioning or for good hot seat questions when a student is in character for a play, novel or other text.

The hot seat questions can be used to good effect in a warm-up exercise at the beginning of a lesson or as conversation starters at any point in a lesson.

This resource could fuel some fun games related to a text’s characters or come in handy as a series of funny questions making up a plenary section. They can be applied to any time period and are flexible for a range of different contexts.

One person can ask another the questions as an ice-breaker or use the questions as ideal hot seat questions for group activities.

The questions focus on categories, such as childhood, interests and dreams.

The activity is deliberately versatile: you could get students to choose one question from each area or remove/add questions so that it's specific to the issues within a particular text.
