Jabberwocky activities

An exploration of vocabulary and word classes using the poem 'Jabberwocky' by Lewis Carroll. First children read the poem and think about the prompt questions. In pairs, they then sort the nonsense words into nouns, verbs and adjectives. They come up with definitions for each word to create a mini dictionary, then compare their findings with the rest of the class! Now can they invent some nonsense words of their own?

This activity is suitable for Y5 and Y6.
