Substitution 8

A great maths starter activity on substitution that can be used to develop fluency in key skills over the course of a topic, or used for recall and retention throughout the year. It could also be used as a main activity. Different values are assigned by the teacher which students then substitute into a range of expressions to check their substitution skills. An extension activity could be to substitute an algebraic expression as an introduction to composite functions.
