Macbeth

Adapted from the rules of the popular property trading board game, students play this Monopoly-style game in pairs/groups for revision after reading the play.

Taking it in turns to roll a dice, they answer questions on a range of characters (Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Duncan, Banquo and Macduff), and key themes in the play, including kingship, natural order, prophecies and ambition.

Game instructions from the resource:

Players’ instructions

  • Start at Go.
  • Roll a single dice and when you stop on a question topic, see if you can answer a question.
  • Write your name on the Macopoly board next to any questions that you answer correctly.
  • If you land on ‘Hell’ or ‘Go straight to Hell’, you miss a turn.
  • The player with the most correct answers at the end wins.
