The appealing black and white images of these revision notes and revision strips use the principle of dual coding to help students remember key facts about climate change in the UK.

The PowerPoint includes a presentation of the facts, plus key words on the topic, and colour images that can be used as a lesson starter. The Word document contains printable cut-out strips of icons, tips for answering six-mark and eight-mark questions, practice exam questions, a writing frame and a detailed mark scheme.

The exam-style questions are based on question types in Component 1 of the GCSE Eduqas B specification, but the content of the revision notes and revision strips is relevant to any exam board.

Revision tips

Connect one idea to the next to create a chain of knowledge. For example:

  • The UK’s 10 warmest years on record have all occurred since 2002. What effect has this had on summers?
  • By 2050, extreme heatwaves are expected to happen every summer. And what effect has it had on winters?
  • They are expected to be warmer and wetter. How do higher temperatures affect crops?
  • They might make some crops easier to grow; however, there will be more droughts. And how do higher temperatures affect sea levels?

Carry on in the same way, making connections …
