Good resource. I used to practice non fiction comprehension skills- skimming texts to find answering questions correctly with appropriate detail. It took about 3 lessons as the text generated a lot of discussion.

With my Year 5 class over two lessons and a homework. Attractive and uses all the features you want to focus on it helped us to pick apart persuasive texts and then write our own. I like the way it structured the planning process in such a way as we can plan other pieces of persuasive writing.

This was a very good resource that I used for comprehension in class and also set as homework.

A well produced and attractive resource, helpful for non-fiction reading practice. I edited out the writing activity to use this resource with a guided group for targeted reading intervention as part of last minute SATs preparation. We sorted the questions to work out which ones were Af2 and which Af3. We considered how many marks would be allocated to each question if they were on the test paper. We practised our skimming and scanning skills to help us get familiar with the texts before applying our information retrieval and inference and deduction skills as appropriate.
