Practise plotting coordinates and linear equations on a grid with a fun game of Battleships. Use with KS3 or KS4 as a starter or plenary.

Students set up their battleships on a coordinate grid. Each torpedo follows a straight line, the equation of which is revealed by a click on the PowerPoint. If the torpedo goes through any point on one of the battleships, it is sunk.

Who will be the last captain to have any vessels left?

Great way to test understanding of linear graphs. (The bottom number two torpedoes are the same equation y=2x). used alongside Autograph with a slow plot and dotted line to show the torpedo coming in after they had had chance to draw in the line themselves.
