A lovely visual KS3/4 PowerPoint demonstration to derive the formula for the area of a circle. 

The resource includes questions that could be used as worked examples or as independent work. 

Questions include:

  • area of a circle given the radius
  • area of a circle given the diameter
  • area of  semicircle
  • area of a quadrant

This PowerPoint also includes an extension slide in which students calculate the radius or diameter of a circle given the area.

Great PPT but the sound effects are such an intrusion and unnecessary! I have to play it with the sound off. Any suggestions for removing them permanently?

It is just what I wanted though it will not let me save the powerpoint so I have had to use the pdf version
