A KS4 investigation resource which uses circle theorems and properties of polygons to discover different shapes that can be created within circles.

The worksheets have three sections:

  • Starting with triangles - students are asked to draw a circle with a number of equally spaced radial lines and use it to investigate triangles
  • Opening up your investigation - students consider other polygons and justify their conclusions by thinking about lengths of lines, sizes of angles and circle theorems
  • Investigating your own questions - students are encouraged to ask their own questions, with some examples given. e.g. Is it possible to form a non-square rhombus with all four corners on the edge of the circle?

This resource promotes independent learning with higher attaining students.
