Who murdered Jacques Villiers?
A murder mystery activity to work out the person responsible for the death of poor, young Jacques Villiers in France in 1789. Students have evidence cards pointing to four different suspects: Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette; the local aristocrat – the Marquis de Valmy; the local priest – the Abbé Dupont; and Jacques’ father François Villiers. In exploring the cards they encounter some of the context to the French Revolution. Teaching notes are included to help you put this fun activity into action.
