L’argent de poche
Introduce the topic of pocket money with this colourful French PowerPoint. The lesson starts with a short reading activity to get students working out which person ends up with the most pocket money. The next slide zooms in on the key language from the starter so that students can practise saying how much pocket money they get.
A pair work speaking activity introduces 12 different items that students might spend their money on, or save up to buy. The same items are then used in a teacher-read listening activity. A second speaking slide is based on a text with multiple options that can be used to play a 'trapdoor' / 'mind reader' game or memory challenge in pairs – great practice for reading aloud. Instructions are given in the notes to the slide.
Students then analyse how to improve a sample text to write their own paragraph about their pocket money. A plenary version of 'Kim's game' is included in the PowerPoint, in which students must try and spot the missing item on each slide). Answers are provided.
