How revolutionary were the railways in Britain?
A change and continuity card sort which encourages students to describe the extent of change which the railways brought to Britain in the 19th century. Changes considered include the growth in holiday time and destinations, the impact on navvies and the decline of canals and turnpike trusts. Task descriptions and possible extension activities are included.
