A lovely lesson in which students learn about key thinkers of the Renaissance and the resistance their ideas faced. The individuals include; Andreas Vesalius, Galileo Galilei, William Harvey, Thomas Savery, Sir Issac Newton, and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. The inquisition and witch hunts are considered as evidence of a backlash.

The lesson could be completed in groups as a carousel and would inform a great whole-class debate. The pictures referred to in the teaching notes are courtesy of Britannica image quest and are attached as a separate PDF.
