Linguistic terms taboo
A fun, quick-fire revision or consolidation team game, covering key linguistic terms and systematic frameworks.
Taboo can be played between partners, in teams or a class. Each student should be given a linguistic term card. Their aim is to define the term on the card for the other players, but without using the word itself because it is ‘taboo’. The other players have to guess what is on the card as quickly as possible. For every word guessed players/teams gain a point. Taboo is also a useful starter or plenary activity. The resource includes teaching notes with differentiated suggestions for how the activity could work in the classroom.
