A KS3/4 investigation activity to discover pi.
The worksheet has 9 sections:
- You will need - a list of equipment needed
- Collect your data -for 10 circular objects students are asked to measure the diameter and circumference.
- Plot your data - students plot their results on a scatter graph and draw a line of best fit
- Make predictions - given the radius or diameter, students use their line of best fit to predict the circumference. They then draw and check.
- Make observations - for each object, students calculate the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of the circle
- Conclude - what have they found?
- Teacher's notes
- Equipment - resources for the lesson
- Collecting data - a table for students to record their data.
