Using evidence

Students make inferences from a selection of contemporary sources about the problems and dangers of coal mining during the industrial revolution. The evidence includes testimony from an eight-year-old girl, Sarah Gooder, a female coal putter, Isabel Wilson and 17-year-old Patience Kershaw. Having examined the evidence, students then write their own report to parliament making recommendations for reform.
