Data handling – employment in the Somerset coalfields 1875-1950

A data handling exercise based on employment levels on the Somerset Coal Canal between 1875 and 1950. Children are required to fill in the missing data in a table, then use the data to complete a bar chart. They are also asked to interpret the data and consider reasons for the changes.

Suitable for Y5 and Y6. Includes answers and a supporting spreadsheet with graphs.
