Hi Catherine, we spoke about this over Christmas. When we first published this resource, we kept the modernised version of the source text. On revisiting it we've taken on board your comments and agree that it would be more beneficial for students to work with the original text. We have now replaced the text, so we hope that other teachers will agree!

These are not the words that Edgar Allan Poe wrote. So this should not be described as "by Edgar Allan Poe". This is a modernised version that includes definitions of words like 'vulture' in case some readers do not know what a vulture is. Please make clear that this is the case. Better still, why not just give them the original?

Hi, thank you for your comments. We have asked the writer if she would be kind enough to send some suggested answers to go with the resource, so please watch this space. For the skills descriptors, please refer to the exam board mark scheme. Thanks!
