Types of extreme weather
This resource can be used to support student understanding of extreme weather events. Students begin with a diamond nine activity, ranking extreme weather events from most extreme to least extreme and then discuss what makes a weather event extreme or not.
Students then complete a written activity where they must justify what makes certain types of weather more extreme than others, a structured writing frame is included to offer support if required. A peer assessment mark scheme is available for this written task. Students can then finish with a game of extreme weather top trumps.
