A lovely set of comprehension questions and activities for independent or guided reading sessions. Questions include a mix of information retrieval, inference, personal response, prediction, skimming and scanning. Questions to revise language work including spelling, grammar and vocabulary are also featured, along with creative activities. 

Answers are included. 

Sample questions from the resource:

  1. After reading just the prologue, make a prediction about the story. What do you predict will happen? Explain your reasons.
  2. How did Mr and Mrs Meek feel about going down into the ancient vaults? Give examples from the text to justify your answer. 
  3. Choose one of the books from the vaults and either design a front cover or create the blurb for the back cover.  
  4. How many different speech verbs (e.g. shouted) can you collect from chapters 9 and 10?
