A versatile student workbook that includes punctuation and word class tasks, with assessment opportunities for each. This variety of writing tasks helps to consolidate prior learning, assess the level students are working at, and identify knowledge gaps and areas for improvement. Ideal for self-contained revision or as a series of homework tasks. Also suitable for home-learning.

Sample content:

Commas are used:

  • to indicate a pause in a sentence (e.g. It was sunny. However, it was very cold. / Although it was sunny, it was very cold.)
  • to separate items in a list
  • often before you include speech
  • if you add words like ‘please’ and ‘thank you’.

Example: Turn the light off before you leave the room, please.

Task: Put the commas into these sentences:

  1. There are five blue six black and eight purple pens in the pencil case.
  2. When my phone stops working I get really annoyed.

I have not used it yet, but planning to use it as revision and reinforcement for students that need extra support with literacy. I like the explanations, and the activities that sync with the explanations. I think students will find this resource easier to understand.
