A drama activity using everyday scenarios to help children start to devise and write direct speech. Children are given a scenario such as a rainy playtime or dinner queue to create a freeze frame for before composing their own direct speech. This resource is an ideal group activity and a creative introduction to writing direct speech. It is suitable for children in years 3 and 4.

Will use this resource with a class of bi-lingual children to highlight the use of speech through drama and the choice of vocabulary used.....Then will encourage the children to transfer the speech bubbles to direct speech, using alternatives for 'said'.
