Why did Prohibition fail?
This resource features a creative way for students to investigate the world of American 1920s Prohibition and organised crime. Students work through the foundations of the topic with a guided reading and definitions task. Then, students are guided through a role-playing decision-making task, where they take the role of a Chicago DCI in the 1920s, responding to the challenges of Prohibition. Students then consolidate their knowledge by responding to some prompts about the main causes of the failure of Prohibition.
This resource was planned for AQA's GCSE History: America - Opportunity and Inequality: 1920–1973.
