Commissioner's report: working conditions in the factories
Students take on the role of a Royal Commissioner to produce a report on working conditions in factories in the 19th century. A rich collection of contemporary evidence is included from factory owners, people who were interviewed by the Royal Commission and prominent thinkers of the time. Students are then guided with a range of sentence starters to write about what the sources tell them.
