How Dickens appeals to our senses
Students analyse an extract from Oliver Twist by completing a table with sensory details. The excerpt is accompanied by a glossary of challenging vocabulary.
Students use Dickens' style to inform their own writing in a description of their choice:
- Saturday lunchtime in McDonald's
- a crowded market
- their local high street
- the school canteen.
