The Tempest: KS3 assessment
Four differentiated assessments on Shakespeare's play The Tempest, suitable for use across the attainment range with Years 8 and 9.
This helpful assessment pack is designed to complement Teachit's The Tempest teaching pack for KS3, and includes target-setting guidance, mark schemes and feedback sheets suitable for Years 8 and 9.
Each question is extract based, focusing on Act 4, Scene 1 and the wider play, with a structured question on the portrayal of Prospero.
Example differentiated question from the assessment pack:
How is the character of Prospero presented in Act 4 Scene 1, lines 139 to 262?
Aim to make about five different points about Prospero, using at least one short quotation as evidence for each point. Try to comment on how Shakespeare’s choice of words and language helps to create our impressions of Prospero.
You could comment on:
- what Prospero says
- how he says it
- how others react to him.
