Save my dog!
A persuasive speaking task where students assume the role of a dog owner and argue the case that their poorly dog should be saved.
Based on a fictional scenario, this role-play activity gets students to engage with a vet's difficult decision of saving just one dog from ten who have been infected with a life-threatening virus. There are role cards for each of the owners and their dogs.
The accompanying PowerPoint presentation includes tips for students, images of the dogs and an example of a persuasive speech for one of the dogs.
This task could help students to develop a number of skills: planning a persuasive speech, presenting a case in role, and giving a speech.
