Sentence construction
Here’s our collection of sentence-level and grammar worksheets to help key stage 3 and key stage 4 English students to understand different types of sentences. By learning the key features of simple sentences, compound sentences and complex sentences, students will be able to vary sentences to make their own writing more effective and explore the effects of the different sentences writers use.
Students will also understand the functions of different sentences, including declarative sentences, interrogative sentences, imperative sentences and exclamatory sentences.
With these sentence structure worksheets, you can develop learners’ understanding of clauses as well as word classes such as conjunctions, prepositions, nouns, verbs, and adverbs, as well as subject-verb agreement. You can also use these worksheets to reinforce the importance of punctuation marks including full stops, commas and question marks to give sentences meaning.
With a range of resource types to choose from, including comprehensive PowerPoint presentations as well as classroom games like sentence types fortune tellers and grammar dice, you’ll find lesson worksheets to inspire a love of grammar!
