Recounts
What is a recount text?
A recount text is a text type that retells an event or events that have already happened. It is written in the past tense and in chronological order. Recount texts typically feature a range of time connectives and conjunctions.
These English teaching resources will help key stage 1 and key stage 2 children write simple recounts of important events or events in their lives, such as school trips or sports days. Find PowerPoints, worksheets and templates to support classroom teaching or home learning.
If you’re looking for recount examples, you may like our Writing for different genres teaching pack, or our Writing non-fiction (lower KS2) or Writing non-fiction (upper KS2) teaching packs, which feature WAGOLL texts, lesson plans and GPS (SPaG) activities.
