Student activity
An imaginative extension task or starter when teaching and learning about the reactivity series.
Students look at a ‘football draw’ made up of 16 ‘teams of metals’. Using their knowledge of the reactivity series and the position of the metal in its group in the periodic table complete the table to find the eventual winner. The most reactive metal in each match is the winner.
Ideal for injecting some topicality into lessons in the run up to Men's UEFA Euro 2024, or for future World Cups or European Championships.
