Rules for effective transition:
- Agree on the long term aims of education in the area
- Increase teacher understanding of each phase
- Increase pupil understanding of the long-term goal of their education
- Encourage opportunities for pupils of different ages and phases to learn together
- Develop a curriculum plan from Infant to adult for your area
- Build in learning experiences between the phases into the calendar
- Make sure your induction programme is a subset of the transition programme, helping the individual settle in the context of a strong organisational relationship.
