The cheesy rock cycle
A really engaging resource for getting to understand the rock cycle, perfect for the AQA KS3 Earth structure unit. It is ideal for promoting class discussion about the stages of the rock cycle.
Start with a demonstration to make a cheese toastie and get students to compare the objects and processes involved in the formation of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks during the rock cycle.
There is a table to fill in with their ideas in which can record their ideas and also make an evaluation as to how well each object represents a part of the rock cycle.
For stretch and challenge, they can then use their table to write an extended response to evaluate the model of the rock cycle.
