This KS4 worksheet includes three activities to get students thinking about the atomic structure of elements, comparing groups and then looking or patterns.
In the first activity, they employ some detective work to identify five elements just from their atomic diagrams.
In the second activity, they fill in tables to compare the atomic structure of elements down Group 1 and also Group 0.
In the final activity they are asked the following questions:
- What patterns do you notice between the members of Group 1?
- What patterns do you notice between the members of Group 0?
- What patterns would you expect to see as you go down Group 2?
The answers are included.
