Two tasks that help students become confident with atomic number, mass number, electrons, protons and neutrons, ideal for teaching atomic structure at KS4.

The first task involves using the Periodic Table to complete a table that shows the first twenty elements, hydrogen to calcium, and working out the number of neutrons, protons and electrons in their atoms. By doing this students will start to see patterns.

In the second task, students use the table that they produced to answer a series of questions which help them to see the patterns within groups of the Periodic Table.
