The solution is clear

This resource structures a lesson around dissolving, filtering and evaporation all key terms in the KS3 separating mixtures unit. There is a starter activity in which students work out the keywords for the lesson. There is a practical to see which powders will dissolve with a summary cloze activity to copy and complete.

There are instructions to follow up with a filtration activity comparing a solution and a mixture of sand and water. A mini-plenary matching keywords to their definitions. Finally, students evaporate water from a salt solution to form crystals.
