An extract from the teaching notes:
Exercise 1
Get students to match the words to the pictures. Some vocabulary will be new (throat, a cold) and if students ask what words mean try and mime the answer. When students have completed the exercise go round the class practising pronunciation (‘ache’ is especially difficult for lots of students). The use of the article is sometimes unclear. Students might have heard a stomach-ache, a toothache, a backache. Both are acceptable except in the case of a headache, which must have the article.

Review this resourceWhere a resource is aimed at a specific age group, we do try to find age-appropriate images, but sourcing copyright-free pictures isn’t always straightforward. Where a resource is billed as suitable for a wide range of ages, such as this one, some of the images are likely to seem a bit childish. We realise that teachers will often need to adapt resources to their specific contexts, which is why we provide Microsoft Office versions for subscribers.
We shall continue to try and make sure that we find the most suitable images possible. I hope the fact that some of them are a bit childish won’t put you off using our resources.
