An online video, a PowerPoint presentation and a worksheet to revise German transport vocabulary and practise translating sentences about transport from German to English.

As a starter, students watch a short video in German about forms of transport in Berlin. Although they may not understand all the German, the task is very simple: identify the different forms of transport.

They then match German sentences about transport to their English translations. The PowerPoint recaps the forms of the verb fahren in the present tense and reminds students to use fliegen for plane travel.

Students then translate German sentences into English, with two levels of challenge to choose from. Finally, they compare different forms of transport using comparative sentences.

The answers to the more challenging translation sentences:

4. Wir fahren mit dem Bus nach Berlin.

We go/travel to Berlin by bus.

5. Mein Chef fährt mit dem Auto nach Berlin.

My boss goes/travels to Berlin by car.

6. Mein Kollege fliegt mit dem Flugzeug nach Berlin.

My colleague goes/travels to Berlin by plane.
