A lovely lesson on the space race 1957-1969. Students illustrate the key events in a table, and then sort them in terms of significance over time on a living graph. The living graph is colour coded to show significance for the USA and USSR. This helps students to come to a reasoned explanation of who won and why the space race mattered so much. A PowerPoint (subscribers only) accompanies the resource with images courtesy of NASA. These images could inspire curiosity in students and help to develop a strong sense of period. Detailed lesson structure suggestions are included.
