Trapdoor: ¿cómo te fue?

This 'trapdoor' or 'mind reader' activity is a structured speaking resource for key stage 3 or GCSE students using the preterite tense on the topic of holidays and travel. It's also ideal practice in reading aloud.

Students choose parts of sentences from three options in each box without telling their partner what they have chosen. Their partner must then try to predict those choices by reading out the complete sentences.

The vocabulary and grammar are based on the book Viva 2 (Pearson, Edexcel), but the activity could be used to accompany any textbook. It is differentiated, including a version with English translations and a version without. There is a suggestion for a pronunciation 'race' to prepare students for the speaking task.
