Comprehension

Reading comprehension is an important strategy to improve students' reading skills and their confidence as readers. When learners understand what they've read, can decode challenging vocabulary and make connections with prior knowledge, they can begin to think more deeply about texts and start to analyse and interpret a writer's craft, or read with a purpose.

Search our rich and eclectic mix of KS3 and GCSE comprehension worksheets, exercises and questions on a range of unseen fiction texts and non-fiction texts, including 19th-century fiction, short stories, articles and essays, to develop students' reading comprehension and inference skills.

Our KS3 comprehension teaching pack is an ideal introduction during transition for year 7-8 students, with text extracts, comprehension questions and suggested answers for use in class, for homework, end-of-term or year assessments and cover lessons.

See all our KS3-4 Unseen fiction resources.
