Exploring beginnings

Students read a number of story openings and answer focused questions about these, before writing their own.

The examples focus on crafting story starts which give clues about:

• settings
• characters
• the time of day
• significant events.

Once students have read and responded to the examples, they have a go at writing their own.

This resource would work well in supporting students in learning how to start stories.
