KS3 creative writing resource
This selection of creative writing resources support students as they begin to examine the vast array of original writing possibilities which they can exploit in their written pieces throughout KS3 and KS4.
The aim of this resource is to empower students with a deeper knowledge and greater confidence as they explore techniques, tone of voice and written style in their own individual way through their writing responses. There is a variety of creative writing activities for each year group, focusing on a theme to support students as they apply their understanding of genre and create pieces that give them the space to become stronger writers.
Key features of this resource
This resource features two creative writing activity worksheets, each for years 7,8 and 9. Each worksheet includes eight activities inspired by quotations from famous texts, possible newspaper headlines for article writing, writing tasks that guide students to create a written response to an image, and word collages.
Students are guided to evaluate the key aspects of the written genre they are exploring and to produce original pieces which enable them to expand their written powers as they become more confident and bold writers.

Year 7 magic creative writing activities
1. Close your eyes and imagine you are holding an everyday object with the magical power to transport you anywhere.
Write one paragraph about the experience of being transported and a second paragraph about the magical world in which you find yourself.
