Fast could also be a verb or a noun as well as an adjective or adverb - context is king! Here it's in a list of suggested adjectives so they'd have to use it as such. It may not have been intended to but this word created quite an interesting talking point with my students.

So, according to the Cambridge dictionary - fast can function as both an adjective and an adverb. Hope that helps!
