A grotesque discovery

An original and engaging stimulus for a writing task.

Students watch a clip from Stephen Frears' 2002 film, Dirty Pretty Things (approximately 15 minutes into the film) to explore the tension, horror and an ethical dilemma. They are then asked to empathise with the main character and write from his viewpoint. Includes sentence starters to help students get started with their writing.
